PACE Unit Arrests Two for Narcotics After Burn Ban Violation

Flagler County Sheriff's Office PACE Unit detectives arrested two individuals for drug possession Friday evening after a traffic stop initiated for a burn ban violation in Palm Coast. The incident began when a detective observed a lit ember being thrown from the passenger window of a white Toyota Camry on Pine Lakes Parkway.

Flagler County is currently under a burn ban due to dry conditions and elevated fire risk. The ban prohibits throwing matches, cigarettes, or any other item likely to cause a fire from vehicles. The action also violates Florida Statute 590.10, which makes it illegal to throw, drop, or dispose of lighted cigarettes, matches, or any substance that may cause a wildfire.

During the subsequent traffic stop, PACE Unit detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Stacey Pringle, 55, of Palm Coast, and the front-seat passenger. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of narcotics, leading to drug-related charges for both occupants.

The Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit specializes in targeting crime in specific geographical areas experiencing elevated criminal activity. The unit's proactive patrol work led to the discovery of the narcotics violation during what began as a routine enforcement stop for the burn ban infraction.

Both suspects were arrested on drug possession charges following the traffic stop.
