A New York man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a violent outburst at Sharps Discount Liquors in Palm Coast, Florida, following a store clerk's refusal to sell him additional alcohol.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the liquor store shortly after 2 p.m. for reports of a verbal disturbance. While en route, dispatchers updated officers that a customer with a large knife in his waistband was standing on the counter, spitting and throwing glass bottles throughout the store.

The incident began when store employees declined to sell the suspect more alcohol, prompting the destructive behavior. Deputies arrived to find the man had created significant damage inside the establishment by throwing merchandise and glass bottles.

Officers observed the large knife in the suspect's waistband as described by witnesses and store personnel. The man was taken into custody without further incident after deputies secured the scene and assessed the damage to the store.

The suspect's identity has not been released pending formal booking procedures. Store employees were unharmed during the incident, though the business sustained property damage from the thrown bottles and merchandise.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the incident. The suspect faces potential charges related to the property damage, weapons violations, and disorderly conduct stemming from Wednesday's outburst at the Palm Coast liquor store.
