Florida Woman Refuses DUI Tests During Traffic Stop

A woman was arrested for DUI after a lengthy traffic stop in Martin County, Florida, where she repeatedly refused field sobriety tests and displayed erratic behavior. Stuart Police Department Officer Kuffner initiated the stop on Monterey Road after observing the vehicle swerving and driving without taillights.

The suspect told officers she was returning from her husband's concert at Conkey Joe's in Jensen Beach and had consumed two alcoholic beverages. During the stop, she exhibited signs of impairment including vomiting and difficulty maintaining balance. When her husband arrived at the scene, he claimed her condition was caused by fried food consumption.

The woman refused to participate in standard field sobriety tests administered by Officer Kuffner. She also declined to take a preliminary breath test when first offered. Her behavior during the encounter was confrontational, including making derogatory comments about the arresting officer while praising his supervisor.
