Florida Pilot Arrested for DUI After Found Half-Dressed on I-95
A licensed pilot was arrested for driving under the influence after multiple 911 calls reported a reckless driver on Interstate 95 southbound in Flagler County, Florida. Deputies found the man stopped on the left shoulder wearing only boxers and a shirt, with his pants on the ground nearby.
The suspect had urinated in his pants before police arrived and removed them. Deputies asked him to put the pants back on during the investigation. Two Grape Hard Seltzer cans were discovered by the guardrail near his vehicle.
When questioned by officers, the man claimed he had consumed only two drinks at 2 PM and stated he had no knowledge of where the alcohol cans came from. His level of impairment was so severe that deputies determined it would be unsafe to conduct standard field sobriety tests.
The suspect registered a blood alcohol content of .260 on his first breath test, more than three times Florida's legal limit of .08. The extremely high reading confirmed the deputies' assessment of his impaired condition during the traffic stop.
The arrest was conducted jointly by the Florida Highway Patrol and Flagler County Sheriff's Office. The suspect's status as a licensed pilot adds additional complications to his legal situation, as federal aviation regulations have strict requirements regarding alcohol-related offenses.
The case remains active with DUI charges pending against the suspect.
