Michael Stanek, 57, of Welaka, Florida, was arrested by Flagler County Sheriff's deputies after being clocked driving 107 mph on a Florida roadway. When asked by the deputy why he was driving so fast, Stanek reportedly said he had an appointment with his barber.

Under Florida law, driving 50 mph or more over the speed limit or reaching speeds of 100 mph or higher constitutes "super speeding," a criminal offense. The violation carries mandatory jail time rather than just a traffic citation.

A Flagler County Sheriff's Traffic Unit deputy conducted the traffic stop after observing Stanek's excessive speed. The deputy's bodycam footage captured the interaction where Stanek provided his explanation for the dangerous driving behavior.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office officials used the incident to remind drivers that super speeding is a serious criminal matter in Florida. The law treats such excessive speeds as more than a simple traffic violation due to the significant danger posed to other motorists and pedestrians.

Stanek was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility following his arrest. He faces charges of dangerous excessive speeding under Florida's super speeder statute.
