Florida Couple Both Arrested for DUI at Gas Station

Stuart Police arrested both members of a couple on DUI charges after a domestic disturbance escalated into a confrontation at a local gas station on July 3rd. Officers initially responded to an apartment complex where both individuals had been drinking and were involved in a domestic dispute.

Police separated the couple and instructed the boyfriend to pack his belongings and leave the residence, but warned him not to drive for at least 30 minutes. The girlfriend was told her license was suspended and she was prohibited from driving under any circumstances.

Within 30 minutes of the initial police contact, the boyfriend drove to a gas station approximately one mile away. The girlfriend followed him in her own vehicle despite the warnings from officers. Security cameras captured her jumping out of her car and climbing into the passenger seat of his truck while he was inside the store paying for gas.

The boyfriend discovered her in his vehicle upon returning and had the store call 911. Stuart Police responded to the gas station and conducted separate DUI investigations on both individuals simultaneously. Both suspects failed field sobriety tests administered by different officers.

The couple was arrested and taken to jail on charges related to driving under the influence. One suspect had no bond money available while the other had no one to contact for assistance. Their dog was transported to Pet Emergency for care.

Both individuals remain in custody facing DUI charges stemming from the incident that occurred the night before Independence Day.
